As a founding teacher of High Tech Middle School in San Diego, CA in 2003, I have had the great opportunity to deepen my skills as a teacher and student advocate, as well as working with teachers both nationally and internationally to integrate arts into their classrooms.
My passion as a project based learning educator is to be a part of lifting up the next generation of empathetic, curious, and driven human beings. I help guide students and fellow educators creating projects, often peering through the lens of social justice. I believe the philosophical concept of social justice confirms that all people should have equal access to health, well-being, wealth, and opportunity; which is necessary to the future of our fragile world. Together, my students, co-creators and I maneuver our way through hands on, innovative work to be agents for change by partnering with local organizations and members of our community to learn first hand, rather than through books, articles and websites.
